Bruntwood and Select Property Group have put in a planning application for 506 apartments in two buildings of 33 storeys and 16 storeys, on the banks of the River Irwell, Salford.
The scheme, which will operate under Select’s Affinity Living brand, is located on New Bailey Street on the riverside footpath that links Spinningfields to Blackfriars Street.
The site is next to Bruntwood’s Riverside development of commercial office and retail space, and the Lowry Hotel.
Denton Corker Marshall is the architect.
The 33-storey building, Affinity Living Riverview, will house 318 apartments while the 16-storey building, Affinity Living Riverside, is made up of 188 apartments. The flats will be for the build-to-rent market and targeted at young professionals.
Alongside large social lounge areas and private dining rooms, plans include co-working spaces and a gym. Level 33 of Riverview will feature a roof garden, media room and private entertainment space.
The New Bailey Street scheme is the second in Manchester by Bruntwood and Select, which is currently delivering the £750m Circle Square scheme on the former BBC site on Oxford Road.
In another joint venture, Select and Ask Real Estate submitted a planning application last month for 700 Affinity Living apartments at Embankment West, also in Salford, in a 12, 25 and 32 storey building.
Mark Stott, chief executive of Select Property Group, said: “With a shared vision for customer service excellence, we’re looking forward to working with Bruntwood once more to transform this fantastic riverside location into a residential community which redefines the standards for build-to-rent.”
Subject to planning permission, enabling works will commence on site in October 2016.
